These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of:
- The ScanMe – QR Code Scanner mobile application;
- The ScanMe Online website and web application available at https://scanmeonline.com; and
- Any related features, tools, content, websites, or services provided by Androrangers Technologies LLC.
ScanMe – QR Code Scanner and ScanMe Online are collectively referred to in these Terms as the “Services.”
The Services are owned and operated by Androrangers Technologies LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company (“Androrangers,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using any of the Services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not access or use the Services.
1. About the Services
ScanMe – QR Code Scanner
The ScanMe mobile application may allow users to:
- Scan QR codes and barcodes using a mobile-device camera.
- Scan codes contained in images.
- Create QR codes and barcodes.
- Customize generated codes using colors, patterns, logos, backgrounds, frames, and other design options.
- Save scan history, generated codes, favorites, and templates locally on a device.
- Export or share generated codes and images.
- Open websites or initiate supported device actions based on scanned content.
ScanMe Online
ScanMe Online may allow users to:
- Create QR codes and barcodes through a web browser.
- Customize generated codes using colors, module styles, eye styles, logos, backgrounds, frames, gradients, and other design options.
- Preview and download generated QR codes or barcodes.
- Scan supported QR codes or barcodes through a compatible browser or uploaded image.
- Access related code-generation, scanning, customization, and utility features.
With an optional account, ScanMe Online may additionally allow users to:
- Create dynamic QR codes, which encode a short link we operate and redirect to a destination you can change after the code is printed.
- View statistics about scans of those codes.
- Create a digital business card, which we publish as a public web page at its own address and which anyone holding the link or the printed code can open.
- Collect inquiries that visitors choose to send through a card, where you have switched that option on.
- Upload images used in a code design or on a card, which we store in order to display them.
These account features differ from the rest of the website in a way that matters: they store your content on our servers, because a redirect, a public card page and a scan statistic cannot work otherwise. Sections 9 and 10 set out the terms that go with that, and the Privacy Policy describes the information involved.
Features may differ between the ScanMe mobile application and ScanMe Online.
The availability of a feature may depend on your device, browser, operating system, location, internet connection, permissions, App version, website version, and third-party service availability.
We may add, modify, suspend, restrict, or remove any feature of the Services at any time.
2. Browser-Based Processing
Certain ScanMe Online generation and customization functions may be processed directly inside your web browser.
When a function is described as client-side or browser-based, the relevant QR-code or barcode content is intended to be processed on your device rather than uploaded to servers operated by Androrangers Technologies LLC.
This describes code generation, customization, downloading and scanning, which is most of the website and is available without an account. It does not describe the account features listed in Section 1. A dynamic code's destination, a business card's contents, an uploaded image and a record of each scan are stored by us, because the feature is the storage: a code whose destination we did not hold could not redirect, and a card we did not host could not be opened by the person you handed it to.
However, ScanMe Online may still connect to third-party or infrastructure services for purposes including:
- Website hosting
- Security
- Analytics
- Advertising
- Error reporting
- Performance monitoring
- Consent management
- Content delivery
- Abuse prevention
You should review our Privacy Policy for more information about how information is processed when you use ScanMe Online.
3. Website Availability
We do not guarantee that ScanMe Online or any particular website feature will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
The website may be unavailable because of:
- Maintenance
- Hosting failures
- Browser incompatibility
- Internet or network interruptions
- Software errors
- Security incidents
- Third-party service failures
- Legal or regulatory requirements
- Events outside our reasonable control
We may change the website address, structure, features, or technical requirements at any time.
4. Generated-Code Responsibility
You are solely responsible for testing every QR code or barcode generated through either ScanMe or ScanMe Online before relying on it.
You must test generated codes before:
- Printing
- Publishing
- Sharing
- Placing them on packaging
- Using them in advertisements
- Distributing marketing materials
- Using them for payments, inventory, tickets, identification, or commercial operations
- Ordering large quantities of printed materials
A code that appears correctly on a screen may become unreadable after it is resized, compressed, downloaded, converted, printed, laminated, damaged, or placed over a complex background.
Androrangers Technologies LLC is not responsible for printing costs, packaging costs, replacement costs, failed scans, missed transactions, lost revenue, lost customers, or business losses caused by an untested, incorrectly configured, or unreadable code.
5. Downloads and Exported Files
The Services may allow you to download or export files in formats such as PNG, JPEG, SVG, PDF, or other supported formats.
You are responsible for:
- Confirming that the downloaded file contains the intended information.
- Testing the code after downloading it.
- Verifying that the selected file format is suitable for its intended use.
- Maintaining your own backup copies.
- Protecting files containing confidential or sensitive information.
- Confirming that your printing provider supports the selected format.
We do not guarantee that every exported file will be compatible with every application, printer, browser, scanner, or production system.
6. Website Links and Third-Party Services
ScanMe Online may contain links to:
- Google Play
- Advertising providers
- Analytics providers
- Social-media platforms
- External websites
- Other third-party services
Two of these are contacted by your browser while you use a specific feature, rather than being links you click:
- An address-lookup provider, while you type in a business card's address field.
- YouTube, in its no-cookie form, when a card carrying a video is opened — including by visitors who are not ScanMe users.
The Cookie and Advertising Disclosure names both and explains what each receives.
The presence of a link does not mean that Androrangers Technologies LLC owns, controls, recommends, guarantees, or endorses the third-party service.
Your interaction with a third-party website or service is governed by that third party’s own terms, policies, and practices.
7. Acceptable Use of ScanMe Online
You may not use ScanMe Online to:
- Perform automated mass generation that materially burdens the website.
- Scrape, crawl, extract, or reproduce substantial portions of the website.
- Bypass rate limits, advertising controls, security measures, or technical restrictions.
- Introduce malware, malicious scripts, or harmful code.
- Test the website for vulnerabilities without written authorization.
- Interfere with hosting infrastructure or other users.
- Misrepresent ScanMe Online as your own service.
- Embed, frame, mirror, or resell the website without written permission.
- Use generated codes to facilitate phishing, fraud, impersonation, credential theft, malware distribution, or illegal activity.
Alerts sent through somebody's Vehicle ID
A Vehicle ID carries a form that lets a passerby tell the owner about their vehicle. It asks for nothing about you and is free to use. You may not use it to:
- Send an alert you know to be false.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse the owner, or send anything unrelated to the vehicle.
- Advertise, solicit, or send anything the owner did not ask for.
- Send alerts automatically, in bulk, or repeatedly in order to flood the owner.
- Attempt to identify the owner, or to contact them outside the methods they have chosen to publish.
We apply rate limits and other controls to this form, and there is a fixed limit on how many alert emails a single vehicle can generate. We may block a sender or remove a Vehicle ID that is being misused.
Vehicle Alerts are not an emergency service
If someone or an animal appears to be in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. ScanMe Vehicle Alerts are a best-effort courtesy message. Delivery depends on email arriving and on the owner reading it, we do not verify who sent an alert or whether it is accurate, and we make no promise about whether or when an owner will see one. Nothing in this feature should be relied on where minutes matter.
We may restrict access, block traffic, introduce rate limits, or take other reasonable measures to protect the Services.
8. Branding and Product Ownership
ScanMe, ScanMe Online, Androrangers, and Androrangers Technologies LLC, along with associated logos, designs, and branding, are owned by or licensed to Androrangers Technologies LLC.
ScanMe Online is a product and service operated by Androrangers Technologies LLC. It is not represented as a separately incorporated legal entity.
Unless we give you written permission, you may not use our names, logos, or branding in a manner that:
- Suggests sponsorship, affiliation, or endorsement.
- Causes confusion regarding the operator of a product or service.
- Impersonates ScanMe, ScanMe Online, or Androrangers Technologies LLC.
- Violates applicable intellectual-property law.
9. Your Account
An account is optional. Creating, customizing, downloading and scanning codes all work without one and without payment. Paid plans and add-ons exist for hosted features — editable destinations, scan analytics and Smart IDs — and are always an explicit opt-in; see section 12A.
Sign-in is provided by Google Firebase Authentication. We never receive or store your password. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for activity that happens under it, and you should tell us promptly if you believe someone else has gained access.
Each account has one personal workspace. The dynamic codes and business cards you create belong to that workspace.
You may delete your account at any time. Deleting it removes the content stored with it, and that has a consequence worth stating plainly: any dynamic QR code you have already printed will stop redirecting, and any business card you have handed out will stop opening. Deleting an account is not a way to take a printed code out of circulation gracefully — pausing or retiring the individual code or card is.
We may suspend or close an account that is used in breach of Section 7 or Section 10.
10. Content You Publish, and Details Other People Send You
Your content stays yours
You keep every right you already have in the content you put into a code, a design or a business card. We claim no ownership of it.
To operate the Services we need your permission to handle it, and no more than that. You grant Androrangers Technologies LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, adapt for display, and publish your content, solely for the purpose of providing the Services to you and to the people you share a code or card with. Adaptation here means the ordinary technical kind — resizing an image, generating a preview, producing the printed and on-screen versions of a card. The license lasts as long as you keep the content on the Services, and ends when you delete it, except for backup copies that expire on their normal cycle.
A published card is public
A business card you publish is served at a public web address. Anyone holding that link or the printed code can open it, and search engines may index it unless you have switched indexing off. Treat what you put on a card as information you are content to make public.
What you must not publish
You must have the right to publish everything you upload, including photographs, logos, trade marks, video references, and any detail about another person. You may not use a card, a code or an uploaded image to publish:
- Content that is unlawful, defamatory, or that infringes someone else's intellectual-property or privacy rights.
- Content that impersonates another person, business, or organization, or that misrepresents your association with one.
- Malware, phishing, or links intended to deceive the person scanning.
- Sexually explicit material, or content that harasses, threatens, or incites violence against anyone.
- Another person's contact details, photograph, or other personal information without a lawful basis for doing so.
We may unpublish, remove, or restrict access to content that breaches this section, and may suspend the account behind it. Where we reasonably can, we will say why.
Inquiries visitors send you
If you switch on the contact form for a card, visitors can send you their name, contact details and a message. Those entries are personal information about other people, not about you.
You decide whether to collect them at all — leaving the form switched off means the card does not display it. Where you do collect them, you are responsible for what you then do with them, and for meeting any obligation you have toward the people who sent them under the privacy or marketing law that applies to you. We store the entries so that we can show them to you, and we do not use them to market anything to those people.
The contacts dashboard lets you mark an entry as archived once you have dealt with it, which is reversible and keeps the entry, and lets you delete one outright. Deleting removes the name, contact details, message and your note from our servers and cannot be undone. Use it when you no longer need an entry, and when the person who sent it asks you to remove them.
The Privacy Policy describes exactly what is recorded, for this and for scan statistics.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Androrangers Technologies LLC disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
In particular, we do not warrant that:
- The Services will be uninterrupted, timely, or free of errors.
- A generated code will scan correctly on every device, scanner, or printed surface.
- Defects will be corrected.
- The Services are free of viruses or other harmful components.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties. Where that is the case, parts of this section may not apply to you.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Androrangers Technologies LLC and its members, officers, employees, and agents are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages. This includes lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, lost goodwill, and lost business opportunity, whether the claim is based in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other theory, and whether or not we were told such damages were possible.
This applies with particular force to losses arising from a code that failed to scan, was configured incorrectly, or was printed and distributed before it was tested. Section 4 explains why that testing is your responsibility.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total liability arising out of or relating to the Services is limited to one hundred United States dollars (US $100.00), or the amount you paid us for the Services in the twelve months before the claim arose, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability. Where that is the case, parts of this section may not apply to you.
12A. Billing and Subscriptions
Some features are paid. The free tier remains free, and static QR code and barcode generation is not metered on any plan.
- Plans and add-ons. Plans (Pro, Business) and add-ons (an additional dynamic QR code, an additional Smart ID) are sold as recurring subscriptions in United States dollars. Plans are billed monthly or annually as chosen at checkout; add-ons are billed annually only. Prices are shown on the pricing page before purchase.
- Payment processing. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive, handle or store your card details at any point.
- Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until canceled. You may cancel at any time from the Subscriptions page.
- Cancellation. Canceling stops the next renewal. Access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for; we do not cut access short on the day you cancel.
- Refunds. Payments are generally non-refundable, including the unused remainder of an annual term. Where the law of your jurisdiction grants a right of withdrawal or refund, that right applies regardless of this paragraph. If a charge was made in error, contact us.
- Failed payments. If a payment fails, your plan is not switched off immediately. We retry over a period of weeks and notify you; only if collection ultimately fails does the plan end.
- Free trial. The Pro trial requires no payment details, runs for 14 days, is available once per account, and ends automatically without charge.
- What happens when a plan ends. We do not delete your content. If your workspace holds more codes or cards than the free tier allows, you have at least 30 days to upgrade, purchase additional capacity, or choose what to keep active. After that, the excess is paused — not deleted — and is restored if you upgrade again.
- Analytics allowances. Tracked-scan allowances are per calendar month and reset at the start of each month. Exceeding an analytics allowance never stops a QR code from redirecting. It suspends detailed scan recording only.
- Price changes. We may change prices. Changes do not affect the period you have already paid for, and we will give notice before a change takes effect on renewal.
- Taxes. Prices are exclusive of any applicable taxes, which will be shown at checkout where we are required to collect them.
- Purchases through app stores. Where a subscription is purchased through the Google Play Store, that store's payment, cancellation and refund terms govern the transaction, and it is managed there rather than on this website.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Androrangers Technologies LLC and its members, officers, employees, and agents against any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising from:
- Your use or misuse of the Services.
- The content you encode into a QR code or barcode.
- Your breach of these Terms.
- Your violation of any law or of the rights of a third party.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. Uninstalling the App or leaving the website is enough, and neither requires telling us.
If you have an account, leaving does not close it: content stored with it stays until you delete the account or the individual codes and cards. Section 9 explains what deleting an account does to codes you have already printed, which is the part worth reading before you do it.
We may suspend or end access to the Services, in whole or in part and without notice, if:
- You breach these Terms.
- Your use places an unreasonable burden on our infrastructure.
- We are required to do so by law.
- We discontinue the Services.
Sections that by their nature should outlast termination will do so, including sections 4, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 16.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms when features change, when legal or regulatory requirements change, or when something needs clarifying. The revised version will carry an updated “Last Updated” date.
Continuing to use the Services after a revision takes effect means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Services.
16. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
If you live somewhere that gives you the right to bring proceedings locally, or that applies mandatory consumer-protection law in your favor, nothing in this section takes that right away.
17. General
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, it will be limited or removed to the smallest extent necessary and the rest will stay in force.
If we do not enforce a provision, that is not a waiver of it.
You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie and Advertising Disclosure, form the entire agreement between you and Androrangers Technologies LLC regarding the Services, and replace any earlier agreement covering the same subject.
